About the AEC
The non-partisan redrawing of electoral boundaries by the AEC is a vital pre-condition for the fair working of Australia’s democratic system, and it is vital that it be done independently and transparently if we are to maintain confidence in our government and our representatives.
We have seen in other countries what can result from partisan drawing of boundaries, and those are not results any of us want, whatever our political opinion, for Australia.
I want to publicly recognise the roles of the AEC and the independent committee in the redistribution process and to acknowledge in particular the professionalism and rigour they have brought to a decision which will impact the democratic representation of everyone in New South Wales.
